Our client is a privately owned engineering firm with a long, stable history and no interest in selling to private equity. Their power group designs large industrial and utility-scale systems. The practice is growing and they are searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer to add to a capable, professional team whose members work closely with each other.
This is an important, highly visible position within the group, with a high ceiling for advancement and the compensation will reflect that.
The scale of the work sets this group apart. Current and recent projects include:
- Data center power supply up to 2 GW, using reciprocating engines and aeroderivative gas turbines
- Power generation plants from 50 MW to 500 MW, grid-connected and standalone
- Grid-scale battery storage up to 250 MW / 1,000 MWh
- District energy and renewable systems in a dense urban core
- Generator interconnections, including a 115 kV gen-tie to the utility
- Medium-voltage drives for 13,000 kW pumps
- Master plan studies for university and pharmaceutical campuses
Location: Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, or Los Angeles/Long Beach. Hybrid schedule. Relocation available for the right candidate.
What you would be doing:
- Lead electrical design for generation, storage, and large industrial power projects, from schematic design through construction documents
- Design systems from low voltage through 34.5 kV, and interconnections at 115 kV and above
- Run power system studies, including cable sizing and derating
- Serve as owner's engineer and support developers through design and construction
- Coordinate interconnection requirements with utilities
- Mentor and develop younger engineers on the team
What we are looking for:
- 10+ years of power systems design experience in generation, substations, battery storage, and/or large industrial or mission critical power (15 to 20 years preferred)
- BS in Electrical or Power Engineering
- Medium- and high-voltage design experience, including utility interconnection
- PE preferred
- The ability to take a project and run it, and communicate well with clients and colleagues
- The desire to help mentor the next generation of engineers
