Position Overview
We are partnering with an established manufacturer seeking an energetic and driven Territory Sales Representative to develop new business within an assigned Texas territory.
This is a hunter-focused outside sales role with a primary emphasis on prospecting, opening new accounts, and rapidly growing sales within the territory. The Territory Sales Representative will identify prospective independent retailers, build and manage a target-account pipeline, close new business, and support newly established accounts through onboarding, product education, and initial sales development.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated outside sales professional with strong prospecting and closing skills who is comfortable spending significant time in the field developing new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively prospect and qualify independent retailers within the assigned territory that are not currently doing business with the company.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective customers and new business opportunities.
- Generate new accounts through outbound prospecting, field visits, relationship development, and consistent follow-up.
- Lead new customers through account setup, onboarding, initial product education, and first-order support.
- Identify and enroll customers in company-sponsored product and sales training programs.
- Create and maintain a schedule of virtual customer education and sales sessions.
- Conduct ongoing virtual presentations and training sessions, typically lasting 30–60 minutes.
- Keep customers informed of sales opportunities, product updates, promotions, events, and other relevant business information.
- Plan and schedule customer field visits to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for newly developed accounts and coordinate with internal departments to address customer needs.
- Document customer interactions, prospecting activities, account history, and follow-up within the company's CRM.
- Evaluate account sales potential and identify opportunities for additional product penetration.
- Gather competitive intelligence regarding purchasing sources, sales volume, pricing, competitors, business models, market activity, and product strengths and weaknesses.
- Manage prospecting, account development, customer follow-up, reporting, and administrative responsibilities independently.
- Travel throughout the assigned territory as needed, including multi-day and overnight trips.
Qualifications
- Outside B2B sales experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, develop, and close new business.
- Strong closing, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience developing a territory and building a customer base preferred.
- Experience selling to independent retailers, dealers, distributors, or similar B2B customers is highly desirable.
- Strong presentation and customer communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to independently manage a sales pipeline and territory.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- CRM experience required.
- Experience within building products, home improvement, interior products, consumer durables, or a related industry is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
- Must be able to work onsite in the company's DFW-area showroom five days per week when not traveling.
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the assigned territory up to 75% of the time.
