Job Summary

We are looking to hire a Catalyst Research Engineer to support catalyst R&D and production through hands-on experimentation, data interpretation, and technical service. The role blends lab work, plant support, and Stage Gate project execution.

The ideal candidate is a chemical engineer with strong R&D experience in catalysis, formulation, and scale-up. Detail-oriented, solid in experimental design, and comfortable working with hazardous materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead growth projects following the Stage Gate process, including planning, setup, experimentation, and documentation.
• Conduct literature and IP searches; interpret experimental results and present findings.
• Provide technical service and sales support for catalyst products.
• Support catalyst production operations and coordinate analytical testing.
• Submit invention disclosures and support patent activities.
• Design and execute experimental programs independently.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ensure compliance with EHS&S policies and promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemical engineering (required).
• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (preferred).
• 5+ years of R&D experience in catalysis, formulation, and scale-up (Master’s).
• 2+ years of R&D experience in catalysis, formulation, and scale-up (Ph.D.).
• Experience designing and executing experimental programs.
• Experience interpreting results to solve technical problems.
• Technical service/sales support experience required.
• Preferred experience: sulfur removal, gas processing, colloidal science, organometallic chemistry.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in office and lab environments with toxic, corrosive, or hazardous chemicals.
• Ability to perform site visits to refineries/chemical plants with exposure to caustics, acids, hydrocarbons, and HS.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders up to 50 ft, and handle heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.).
• Ability to wear PPE and pass respirator fit testing.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and maintain balance.
• Ability to distinguish chemical odors and meet vision standards.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.
